Orientation (first month only)
Parents and students have the option to meet Mrs. Neel in person for a 45 minute appointment. She will show you how to use all of the features of lvspanishtutor and get a feel for how the student functions in the Spanish classroom.
Grammar explanations and examples
Students have 24 hour access to instructional videos. These videos thouroughly clarify each of the grammar topics being taught in their Spanish class using applicable vocabulary. Examples are pertinent to questions that they will see in class, on homework assignments and on tests and quizzes.
Vocabulary Memorization
Over the years of Mrs. Neel's experience in the high school Spanish classroom, she has developed a method to help students memorize vocabulary in one sitting. Additionally, students are provided with a variety of practices. Committing vocabulary to the long term memory early in the year will help prevent the common problem of having difficulty understanding what a sentence is saying, even though the student is familiar with most of the words in the sentence. Student activity with these practices is monitored and reported on.
Multiple Practice Activities
The lvspanishtutor practice activities are designed to give the student exposure to activities similar to what they will see on tests and quizzes. Student activity with these practices is monitored and reported on.
Homework Assistance
Students can meet in the online classroom once a week and work through multiple homework pages. If you are unable to attend, a recording of the session will be available for viewing. It is good to complete the assignments ahead of time, however that is not required. This feature is beneficial to those students who struggle to complete their daily assignments. It is also beneficial to understand completely prior to reviewing it in class, as it gives students confidence to earn those daily participation points.
Chapter Test Reviews
Mrs. Neel meets with a group of students to further prepare them for the chapter test. These meetings occur prior to the date of the chapter test in class. Students must notify Mrs. Neel of such testing dates. Speaking and listening activities will be practiced depending on student need.
Weekly Progress Reporting
A weekly report will be sent to the emails provided showing activity, scores and attendance of the various features of lvspanishtutor. See an example
